Most cases finish in 6–18 months, check-ins are brief and unhurried, and the same studio handles whitening, bonding, or veneers if you want to finish the smile.
Who Invisalign works well for
Clear aligners handle the cases most adults ask about: crowding, spacing, relapse after childhood braces, mild-to-moderate overbite and overjet, and crossbites in the front teeth. Deep bites — long considered braces-only — are now routinely treated with aligners; a January 2026 randomized trial found aligners matched braces on overbite correction and finished about seven months sooner.
Aligners are not the right tool for everything. Severe rotations of round teeth, large vertical movements, and skeletal jaw discrepancies may need braces, a combined approach, or (in growing teens) mandibular-advancement aligners. We tell you which category you are in at the first visit, well before you commit to anything.
The honest predictor of success is not the brand — it is wear-time. Aligners only move teeth while they are in (20–22 hours a day). Patients who wear them as prescribed finish on schedule; patients who don't need refinements and extra months.
Your Invisalign process in our studio
- Scan & consult (one visit). Digital iTero scan — no impression trays — plus photos, X-rays if needed, and an exam for cavities or gum disease that should be treated first. You usually see a simulated result the same day.
- Treatment plan. Our doctors refine the computer plan tooth by tooth: sequence, attachments, any interproximal polishing, and the expected number of aligners. You get a written estimate with the aligner count and timeline.
- Fitting. Aligners arrive in about 2–3 weeks. Small tooth-colored attachments are bonded where the plan needs grip, and we confirm the first trays seat fully.
- Wear & check-ins. Change trays every 1–2 weeks; brief check-ins every 6–10 weeks. Remote monitoring can reduce trips for busy patients.
- Refinements (if needed). Teeth don't always track exactly as simulated; a short refinement set finishes details. This is normal, not a failure.
- Retainers. Clear retainers at the end, worn nightly for life. Whitening pairs well with the final retainers.
What determines Invisalign cost
We don't publish a single price because two patients with the same "estimate" can finish at very different real costs. What moves the number:
- Case complexity — the number of aligners (a 14-tray case vs. a 40-tray case)
- Whether refinements are included in the plan
- Retainer type and replacement policy
- Pre-treatment work (a filling, gum treatment) that must come first
- Your PPO orthodontic benefit, which often covers a portion for adults and teens

Invisalign vs. braces vs. veneers
Invisalign moves teeth — the right choice when the problem is position: crowding, gaps, bite. Removable, nearly invisible, easier to clean around.
Braces still win for some complex movements and for patients who won't wear removable trays 22 hours a day.

How much does Invisalign cost?
Invisalign cost depends on case complexity — how many aligners you need, whether refinements are required, and the retainer protocol — not a flat list price. Simple crowding or spacing cases need fewer aligners than bite corrections. After a scan and exam you receive a written estimate; orthodontic insurance benefits and HSA/FSA funds can apply, and we are glad to talk through payment options.
How long does Invisalign take?
Most adult cases finish in 6–18 months. Mild crowding or spacing can be under a year; bite corrections (deep bite, overjet) run longer. A 2026 randomized trial found clear aligners corrected deep bites about seven months faster than braces with equivalent results — but wear-time (20–22 hours a day) is the single biggest factor in staying on schedule.
Is Invisalign as effective as braces?
For most crowding, spacing, and many bite cases, yes — outcomes are comparable when the case is selected well and aligners are worn as prescribed. Do you treat teens with Invisalign?
Yes. Invisalign Teen includes compliance indicators and eruption tabs for growing mouths, and mandibular-advancement aligners can posture the lower jaw forward while aligning teeth in growing patients. Many families book a teen's scan alongside a parent's consult.
What happens at the first Invisalign visit?
A digital iTero scan (no goopy impressions), photos, an exam, and — usually the same visit — a simulated outcome you can see on screen. If you proceed, aligners typically arrive in two to three weeks; the first fitting adds any tooth-colored attachments and checks fit.
Will I need a retainer after Invisalign?
Yes, indefinitely — teeth drift without retention regardless of how they were straightened. We provide clear retainers at the end of treatment and recommend nightly wear long-term; fixed (bonded) retainers are an option for lower front teeth.
